About Showcase Miniatures

From: Joe Warren /Proprietor

Showcase Miniatures has been in the business of supplying model railroad kits and miniatures since 1995. It is a small Family business made up of friends and family that contribute their various talents and abilities.

The Warren family, Lynn (wife) and our two children perform the duties of packaging and final quality control. They package and inspect the models before the final release to you. I manage the overall day to day administration of published communication, product development, production, and of coarse paying the bills. Occasionally I get involved with the design and development of a new product.

One of the more significant contributors has been Walter Vail. Walter's designs and handcrafted masters have been second to none. Many of the kits featured in the Showcase Miniatures line are the work of Walter. There are three models in the line that best exemplify Walter's creative talent. I recommend you closely look at them while your visiting our web page. The G scale characters (1:20.3 scale) featuring Ephriam Shay, #115 Deloney's Barn featuring its out of the box weathering and #18 The bottle Truck with its drinking driver figure.

Many of the other people that contribute to the success of our company are people that own successful model railroad companies of their own such as Dick billings of Fine N Scale. Dick provides us with the high quality cast resin parts that are provided in our #104 Wally's Filling Station kit. Dan Crews of Sunrise Enterprises has also contributed to Showcase Miniatures with his casting expertise. Jim Hinds at Richmond controls has added correct prototypical strobe lights to fit our #111 Radio transmission tower. It is with the help and cooperation of these productive and creative talents that we bring you the Showcase Miniatures product line.

Commitment to your recreation time

Recreation is what we do with our spare time to help us forget the daily stress and responsibilities that we have. It is our goal to inspire you and have you tell us that our models have helped you create some of your best scenes. Model Railroading can truly help us understand the concept of re-creating. After all, model railroading is about recreation. Many times it is our desire to be in what we create. Building a model scene is probably the next best thing to being there. Somehow re-creating in three dimensions can allow us a more fulfilling view into the way things were, are now, or can be. It is a vehicle for our imagination, one that allows us to reach a physical destination, one that can be a far distance from our daily stress.

We realize that trying to put together a kit with poor or no instructions can be very frustrating. That is why we work hard to provide instructions and illustrations that show how to successfully assemble our kits. That is our commitment to your recreation time.

Commitment to Excellence

Ultimately we want to have you as a lifetime customer. We strive to achieve precision and high quality craftsmanship with every new release. To carry that commitment one step further we employ the best method for production. Whether it is Laser engraving, photo etching, casting, molding, or printing. We choose the method that yields the best part for our kit. We are model railroaders too and we understand the difference between toys and scale models. We feel that if we stick to this commitment then you will reward us with your patronage for the long run.

Passion for our work

Try and recall or imagine driving along an old abandoned rail line. There you come across an old dilapidated structure. Can you imagine that at one time it may have been a thriving object of commerce? Perhaps it's that serene old barn on the lonely stretch of track between the hustle bustle of civilization. Maybe the first Popsicle that you bought from the man in the ice cream truck. Or seeing that soda pop truck delivering all the refreshing liquids on a hot summer day. In the Showcase Miniatures line you will find the kinds of models that refresh your memories and invigorate your imagination.

Designing and producing kits is our passion. Our kits are derived from inspiring memories, scenes, and images that we have read about or have been told about. Some are ones that we have experienced first hand. It is that inspiration that we have translated to miniature.

Having said all that I hope some enthusiasm has rubbed off on you. Please enjoy our web pages and come back often. Please tell your model railroad friends about this web site and our company.

I will try to change and update them occasionally to keep things fresh and interesting.
