A history of the Walley's Filling Station

This little filling station is typical of many others that were erected during the 40's and 50's. It wasn't unusual to find three or four stations like Walley's competing at one intersection. They were typically owned and operated by local businessmen who would obtain a brand name franchise like Mobil, Standard, Texico, etc. Our model is patterned after an existing service station off old highway 99. The structure is not used as a filling station today. It now houses a successful muffler repair shop.

Railroad Section Support Structures

#117Price $29.95

The most recent addition to Showcase miniatures line is the item #117. This kit consists of three structures. They are a water pump house, tool shed, and car shed. The pump house is used to supply the water to the section water tower, the depots crew support facilities. The tool sheds are used to house an inspection car and basic supplies for maintaining the railroad between sections. The tool shed / workshop also is intended to house the inspection car but also has a small workshop for the crewmembers to perform minor repairs.

Intended for a railroad scene, these structures are a must if you are trying to develop a scene that accurately depicts a working Railroad section. These structures would likely be found at or near the site of a depot or train order office. They would be very well suited in the time of transition from Steam to Diesel. Although these structures can still be found today, the advent of dependable municipal water supplies and modern railroad operations limit the need for them. If you decide to use these structures in modern operations you may want to consider weathering them to match the many years of service they have been through.

All three models come pre-painted and only require minor assembly. Assembly only requires the gluing of the wall and the stick and peel application of the window frames and trim.
